ColourPop Brow Pencils.

Hi people. Today I’m coming to you with a review of the ColourPop brow pencils. I recently reviewed the NYX micro brow pencil and if you checked out that review, you know that I really love that pencil. The ColourPop version has been out for a while and I’ve always wanted to try them, so when I found them, I knew I just had to try them. It comes in 8 shades and I picked up in Bangin’ Brunette and Black n Brown, which are the third and second darkest shades respectively.

The packaging is not unlike the NYX micro brow pencil, with the product on one side and a spoolie on the other, and it comes in the signature ColourPop white packaging.

Bangin’ Brunette is described as a true brunette brown and Black n’ Brown a deep blackened brown.

The pencils are creamy and pretty pigmented, but that’s actually the reason why I’m not so crazy about them. Unlike the NYX micro brow that allows you to build up, this one is boom, colour, and it can get harsh pretty quickly.

Swatched, these don’t look look too different. Bangin’ brunette is just a little bit lighter than black n’ brown but it doesn’t really translate when I use it to fill in my brows. I don’t like the spoolie it comes with. It’s too soft, so doesn’t do much for distributing colour through my brows.

My Thoughts                                                   I do like this, but not as much as I thought I would. I’m definitely not crazy about it. Like I mentioned, it’s highly pigmented but it works as a con for it in this case, because it’s easy to overdo it. And I’m really wondering the genius that came up with the packaging; even though it’s self sharpening, it doesn’t twist down. That’s messed up because you can’t tell when you run out because you if you twist it all thy way up, you can’t twist it back down.

The NYX micro brow in Espresso is lighter than both ColourPop shades, probably because the micro brow isn’t as creamy as the ColourPop shades and so allows you to build up.
In conclusion I should say that although I do like the ColourPop brow pencils, I’m not crazy about them and will probably not repurchase. They’re much more affordable than the NYX micro brow but I’d purchase the micro brow in a heartbeat over these.

    • No I don’t think it is beginner friendly in the least. There are a few reviews but they’re pretty mixed, people either really like it or they don’t and I can see why that is the case
